Hopefully this review will save others some time in setting up their nest. I installed it myself and it was very straightforward. However, once I got it in, it would exhibit symptoms like the unit shutting down, the motion sensor not working, and not turning on the cooling even though the display said it was cooling. Tech support said some units require a common wire for Nest even if the regular thermostat wasn't using one. So I tried using common as well, but still did not work. After about 6 hours of various trouble shooting and tech support calls, I was told that I would need to get my voltage checked. Sure enough my air conditioning repair man found that the voltage was not 24 volts as needed due to a ground wire not being grounded properly. Once we fixed that, everthing worked great.
